This article has 7 interesting facts about Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan, Jon's private life, the band's connections to Hollywood and more.
It is not uncommon for musicians to try out acting. Jon first got a role that lasted for about 2 seconds in the movie Young Guns 2, starring Kiefer Sutherland and Jon’s real life pal Emilio Estevez. Jon made the film’s music (you might remember the golden-globe winning hit Blaze of Glory), and Emilio thought it would be fun if Jon appeared in the film as well. It was fun and Jon decided to take acting lessons after that. His first major role was in Moonlight & Valentino where he starred opposite Gwyneth Paltrow, Kathleen Turner, Elizabeth Perkins and Whoopi Goldberg.
When asked if he ever wrote a song for his wife, Jon replies that he wrote bed of roses for her. This led many fans believe that Jon might have cheated on his wife as the character in the song talks about lying next to one woman while being in love with another. But Jon said in one interview that if there was one thing he loved more than his wife, it was his money and he wasn’t about to give her to her and her lawyers. It is not exactly a romantic explanation but maybe Jon was just messing around.
The 80s were a good year for glam rockers. Make-up, feminine clothes…anything went. If you want to catch Bon Jovi at their worst, you can watch any video made between the years 1984 and 1989. The dress sense is so bad and the hair is so big that Jon Bon Jovi admits that he can’t watch any of the band’s old videos.
Jon is big on charities. He is most proud of his huge donations to the environmental organizations. He feels responsible for all the damage their hair (and of course the hair spray) might have done to the ozone layer.
Jon met his wife Dorothea Hurley in high school. They got married in 1989 and have been married ever since. They have 4 kids. His oldest child is a girl who was born in 1993. Yes, Jon has a teenage daughter.
Jon and Bon Jovi keyboard player David Bryan went to high school together.
Lead-guitarist Richie Sambora’s ex-wife Heather Locklear starred on the successful sitcom Spin City with Michael J. Fox. After Fox had to leave due to health issues, Charlie Sheen came on board. Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife Denise Richards was supposedly having an affair with Richie Sambora. Oh, and Charlie Sheen is Emilio Estevez’s brother and is good friends with Poison front man Bret Michaels. Bret has a Harley Davidson bike that was given to him as a present by Sheen. The world is small, isn’t it?
Used to be a great Bon Jovi fan myself when I was a teenager.
Saw them twice here in Belgium. By the way: I am also a huge fan of
Poison and other glam rock bands, only lesser into Guns n' Roses.
But I guess I am just a typical loves about all metal freak. Can
listen from The Scorpions to Morbid Angel. So not problem here.
@Martine: I still am a great fan:) I saw them in Germany and
they totally rocked. My best concert experience. I love glam rock.
More facts should come from me in these areas:) @Lisa: Yeah. And he
is honest. I love this guy. I just hope he hasn't cheated on his
wife.
