Britney Spears and Lady GaGa Go Head To Head

Britney Spears and Lady GaGa releases new singles and new albums in early 2011. The songs will be released around the same time and they will be nominated for the same awards.

The Spring of 2011 is sure to be a frenzy as two of the pop worlds biggest and brightest stars release their respective albums. Fans have been buzzing on Twitter and lurking on the blog sites to get the latest scoop on the new Britney Spears and Lady Gaga albums. On December 2, 2010, Britney Spears announced via Twitter that her seventh studio album, which has yet to be titled, will be released in March 2011. The new LP's executive producers are previous collaborators of Britney's, Max Martin (…Baby One More Time, Stronger, If You Seek Amy, 3), and Dr. Luke (Circus). The show kicks off as the lead single "Hold It Against Me" is set to be released January 2011, just over 2 years since her "Circus" album was released in 2008. Following the release of "Circus", Spears became the youngest female artist in the United States to have five albums debut at number one, which garnered her a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. The album also went on to sell about 4 million copies worldwide. Riding the wave of momentum, "The Circus Starring Britney Spears" concert tour grossed $131.8 million, becoming the 5th highest grossing tour of the year. The seven month, four leg world tour ran from March 2009 to November 2009. That month she released her second Greatest Hits album, "The Singles Collection." The single "3" from the album broke record upon record, and was the first song to debut at number 1 on the charts in three years. And lets not forget the infamous episode of the cult favorite television show Glee that got everyone enthusiastic for more of Ms. Spears. Things couldn't be better for the former Mousketeer as the new year unfolds, but Lady GaGa also had a tremendous couple of years. She announced on January 1st, at midnight, via Twitter that her new album "Born This Way" will see a May 23rd release date, with the album's title track being released February 13th. Still emerced on her "The Monster Ball Tour", which will run all the way though May 2011, Lady Gaga hasn't shown any signs of slowing down any time soon. "Born This Way" boasts production by the usual suspect, producer RedOne, who crafted most of the previous GaGa hits (Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance, Alejandro). New York native, born Stefani Joanne Augelina Germanotta, Lady GaGa has taken the pop world by storm in the past few years. With two Grammy Awards, two Guinness World Records, about 15 million records sold, and about 51 million singles sold, no one could question Billboard for naming her as Artist of The Year in 2010.

Both controversial chanteauses have the masses waiting for more and anxious to see both stars release music around the same time, and they will get their wish. With singles being released in January and February, the blond bombshells will soon go head to head for most of the same awards, be nominated for the same catagories, causing even more excitement and giving pop culture enthusiasts something to look forward to in 2011.
