Facts About Carlos Toshiki (????????)

Facts about Carlos Toshiki, a Japanese AOR Artist

Carlos Toshiki, the second lead singer for the Japanese Adult-Oriented Rock (AOR) band Omega Tribe was born in the city of Maringa, in the Parana state in Brazil. After Kiyotaka Sugiyama left the band in the mid-80’s, Toshiki was the main vocalist for the band until it was disbanded in the early 1990's, when Toshiki decided to start a solo career. After his solo career went on as Carlos Toshiki, and as his alternate J-pop ballad persona; Toshiki Takahashi, whose songs focused more on commercialized Japanese pop ballads, rather than his summer-themed AOR songs from way back. He did have some musical stints after his time of fame during the 00’s, however he stopped his musical career first to manage his restaurant in Brazil at this point in time. His best hits during his career were mostly from the time he was with the Omega Tribe (not the anarcho-punk band). Popular hits such as:

You are 1000% (Kimi wa 1000% / ??1000%) – This song has reached the Oricon (Japanese billboard equivalent) charts in its time, and has even spawned several songs recreated to become a Bossa Nova cover, and even converted to be used with the Yamaha Vocaloid, a vocal enhancement program that caters to Otaku (anime appreciators) around Japan.

Super Chance – At some parts of this song, it has similarities with Phil Collins’ “Easy Lover”, which was easy to distinguish. Yet it has a very catchy tune to listen to, since it’s all about taking a chance.

Remain with the Aquamarine (Aquamarine no mama de itte/ ????????????) – One of Toshiki’s upbeat songs which demonstrates his vocal talent.

Cosmic Love –

The afternoon when the flowers fall –

Though there are other songs that contain catchier and underrated tunes aside from Toshiki’s mainstream hits with the Omega Tribe such as his solo pieces and other works from his time with the band:

Lady Free –

Matenro Island –

Sonho de Menino (The only track at the moment from Toshiki which wasn’t sung in Japanese) –

Borderless –

Miss Lonely Eyes –

Stay Girl, Stay Pure –

Downtown Mystery –

Regardless of all these, especially to people who would like to listen to easy-listening music with flair, and a touch of the summertime bay life, Carlos Toshiki’s songs, whether solo or during his time with Omega Tribe, are suited for the said consumer.
