Michael Jackson: A Look At Music that Established Him as the King of Pop

An article about Michael Jackson's music

Michael Jackson's music has once again become the most hot topic when discussing the star. Pop stars have always derived business from stories or controversies. Even in death, Michael generates conversation from people around the globe. People seem to want more Jackson's music at a feverish pace. While we wait for this controversial new album let's take a look back at some of the songs and albums that helped establish Michael as the King of Pop.

1. "Rock With You" has a great dance beat with a mellow vibe that can take even the most stressful day, and turn it to a disco dancing party. "Off The Wall" the entire album just makes the listener feel happy and relaxed. Michael's joy on the record can be felt through every song, even "She's Out of My Life" which has the sweetest innocence of young love gone awry.

2. Michael was known for his uptempo dance grooves but oddly enough it is the ballads that as a fan I go back to more. "Human Nature" has a indescribable feeling to it. "Human Nature" is about attraction and finding someone to belong to. This song is especially favored among female fans. Every song on Thriller was single ready material.

3. The "Bad" album is a personal favorite album of mine. My favorite track is "Liberian Girl." I like it best because of the Island feel, and I like Michael's vocals in the track. This song is dedicated to Michael's dear friend, Elizabeth Taylor. The album includes "Man In the Mirror" and the title track, "Bad".

4. Dangerous was Michael Jackson's next studio album. "Remember The Time", "Black or White" and Will You Be There?" These were popular tracks on this album. "Will You Be There" was featured in the hit film, "Free Willy" to aid in nature conservation. The album also features "Gone Too Soon" which is dedicated to Ryan White, an AIDS victim in 1990.

5. The next album was the History album. This album started out as a simple greatest hits album, but Michael added an entire album of new material. This album was diverse in style showcasing everything from then modern hip hop to very personally written ballads. "Childhood" according to Jackson was his most autobiographical song that he has ever written.

6. "Blood on the Dance Floor: History in The Mix" was an album that a mix of new material and remixes. Stand out tracks include "Superfly Sister" and the title track. The remixes are perfect for any party or gathering. My favorite remix is "Scream Louder" which features Janet Jackson.

7. The " Invincible" album was Michael's last studio album. This album was critically acclaimed, but was not promoted well by Sony Music. My favorite track on the album is "Whatever Happens" which also features famed musician, Carlos Santana. This album features more of an R&B flavor which includes tracks like "Butterflies" and "Heaven Can Wait."

Michael Jackson's work extends beyond these brief descriptions of these album. Michael has an extensive catalog before "Off The Wall" and the singer has an enormous catalog of unreleased tracks. Michael Jackson's legacy will continue for generations based on his work as a musician and songwriter.
